    Hello to all.
I have a question. I am/was the DVD authoring engineer at my Church home. I have some DVD'd that I made of our services. What I want to do is "take out" the Choir portions of the dvd's and compile them into one dvd with Chapters for each "performance".
I saw the thread about DVD shrink and "cut" out what I want. Now how do I put the folders onto a another dvd?
Any and all help is appreciated
    Blessings.

Now you need DVD authoring application, if you want menus and chapters.
Otherwise DVD Shrink can putt it all together, but without menus.
For authoring app, look under "Tools", left side of this page.

Okay dvd shrink. A silly question probably. I see in the forum that some people are saying to put the video folder in the working area. does the video folder contain the audio also. I have a video_ts folder and a audio_ts folder. I am (assuming) that I will need to put them both into dvd shrink.
Here is what I just did. I clicked open files, added one dvd folder. It woked. Now I am trying to add the second folder for the second song. It replaced the first one. I will have about 7 different "folders"/songs to be added. What am I doing wrong?
Also, thank you for the fast reply/

The audio_ts folder will be empty, as it is not used for DVD Video, so don't be concerned by that.

Open the first folder in DVD Shrink, then click Re-author. Drag the titles you want to keep from the right-hand pane to the left-hand pane. Use the drop down at the top of the right-hand pane (now called the DVD Browser tab) to open the next folder. This will replace the current folder in the right-hand pane, without disturbing what you have collected on the left-hand pane.

Continue to build up your collection in this manner. You can use the Compression Tab (right-hand pane) to see how much DBD Shrink will have to squeeze your titles to make them fit.

I have a similar question only I'd like to take complete video files and then combine them onto one disc. So I have video 1 on disc A and video 2 on disc B, is there a really simple way to make a lossless exact copy of each and put them both onto disc C. No reencoding.

Assuming that they will fit on a single disc, simply follow the instructions in my previous post.

If they wont fit without re-encoding then no, you cannot do what you want. If the size doesn't need to be reduced by a lot then it may be worth click on the Compression tab and selecting No Compression so you get a very large Video_TS folder, then using DVD Rebuilder to re-encode down to fit a single disc.

DVD Styler is an easy to learn (fairly basic) freeware DVD authoring application. Gui for DVDAuthor is a little more powerful but somewhat harder to learn, also freeware. With each increase in function comes an increase in complexity.

There are a large number of payware authoring applications that have various strengths and WEAKNESS. None are perfect and each will require learning odd quirks and stupid limitations. For creating almost professional DVDs from camcorder footage, I currently use Sony Vegas/DVD Architect combination. Vegas/Architect is pretty good, but the learning curve is steep and some of its limitations are silly (to me). DVD Lab can produce professional authoring results but it's expensive and has a very steep leaning curve. These are not applications to be attempted by the once a year DVD type person.

My favorite for complex DVD RE-authoring is DvdReMake Pro which does almost everything except create new menus, but it's not free and does requires learning DVD programming commands to some degree. I have used DVDReMake to spiff up operation flow of DVDs created by Sony Vegas/DVD Architect or DVD Lab and many other authoring packages. To me, its a must have DVD finishing tool. 8)

    +1 on DvDRebuilder for re-encoding to fit on a DVD5 or DVD9.

ImgBurn and Verbatium (MadeInTaiwan) DVD+R media for consistant burning results...

ps you're in the right forum so far...

Thank yous to all who have replied.
Here is what I have used. I used DVD Shrink to edit out the part that I want. I then use Xillisoft Video Convertor to render it to the AVI format. Then I import it into Liquid 7 to Author. It took me a while to get my first compilation, but I did it. Looks "kinds" grainy but I will look into it further. Maybe the way I converted it (settings).
Again, thank yous to all out there in VideoHelp land.
Blessings and will post later as it gets better (i Hope)

  9. There's no point in converting mpeg files to avi, then converting back to mpeg. It's a waste of time.

Just take the vob files from DVDshrink and load into an authoring program.

I just played around with DVD Flick, which is free, and it will author a dvd with basic menus. Pick the setting to not re-encode mpeg files so the new dvd will have the exact same video quality as the original videos.

Oh okay. I do not know if Liquid will take the mpeg. I will look though right now and get back.
    Thank you

It's not the time that's the issue, it's the quality loss that ensues.
