After researching the error discussed much in this forum, it seems MS would like me to upgrade Vista and they will include the necessary codecs (fat chance!!).
I want this problem to "go away" and I also want good quality; can anyone tell me if you purchase MS's recommended DVD Decoder from Roxio, will this solve the missing codec(s) problems and is the video quality better over those that are free downloads?
Is it better to throw the money at Windvd or another dedicated media/audio software?
Thanks

Use VLC Media player. It works in Vista Business, plays dvd's and is free. You can also use Mediaplayerclassic.
Believing yourself to be secure only takes one cracker to dispel your belief. -
FWIW, Business = Ultimate minus most of the multimedia stuff. Which is why it is cheaper for typical business needs. Likewise, Home Premium is Ultimate without the business-oriented stuff and is cheaper for most consumer needs.
Ultimate is for those who just cannot live without having those things that they will never use. I am such. -
MS made a lot of assumptions and charged premium price for Vista (IE, no upgrades, full versions only). I digress here but I'm having issues with my wireless Logitech MX Revolution mouse and random video problems which doesn't lend itself well to playback. I'd buy the damn codec if I knew it would solve the problems, but I'm against doing it since I cannot test it first.
