I'm making a music video to a tv show. I want the music to play all the way through, and with clips. My problem is some of my video clips also have a sound clip with them, which I want to keep in.
When I play my video back, when it gets to one of these clips, all the sound, including the music, goes off. You have to pause it, wait a bit, then press play again for it to work, only for it to stop again when it gets to another clip.
    How do i stop this?

Hard to say without being there, but it sounds like your PC isn't powerful enough to handle previewing the audio.

You may have to render/mix it back to 2 track stereo and listen to that.

If you post your computer specs in your profile it will be easier to tell if that is the problem. Anything from a mid-range P4 onwards should be able to preview in Vegas without too many problems unless you have a lot of other things going on in the background.

I'm familiar with the problem. It might help if you turn off 'enable Media Manager (requires a restart) in your preferences tab. My computer is quite slow when i preview my video. I had to render my video a couple of times just to check my video effects and transitions.

    Here are my computer specs:

    Operating System: WinXP home edition
    CPU Speed: XP1.66 GHz
    Harddrive space: 120 gb
    RAM Memory: 1024mb
    Video Card:

Is my computer too slow for Sony Vegas Pro 8? And if so, what should/can i do about it? Get more RAM memory?

@guns1inger: What do you mean with other things going on in the background? I usually have a few internet sites (like news or forum sites) in the background running. Does this really affect the speed of previewing a video?

    Thanks a lot!

  6. Are you using a separate hard drive for your video files? If you aren't, this will slow things down. External drives are cheap now and help alot for editing speed.

I have several files on an external harddrive and several on the computer harddrive. Are you saying i should make the video files i want to use to the external harddrive? I thought that would slow it down rather than help with editing speed...

  8. keep your video files on a different hard drive from your operating system.

Very educational. Thank you! I think i'll upgrade the RAM to 2GB anyway.

Btw, does it matter that i work with a laptop instead of a regular computer?
