So do you ever get annoyed when you have those large power adapters for your electronics or other gadgets?

I mean the ones I don't like are the ones that are long and rectangular. At least the square ones like the old NES and SNES power adapters could fit snugly on the end of a power strip and not take up too much room. But some of these more modern ones are at odd angles and are hard to find room for on strips.

What about you? Any pet peeves on power plugs?

I like the small brick power supplies that have a separate wire that connects it to the power strip with a normal size plug. I hate the ones that have the plug built into the brick. I also try to replace all my class 2 transformer type power supplies with the newer style switching power supplies because the output is much cleaner and more stable.

Yoda is NOT off his medication, but he IS taking alternate medication at improper doses :P

I view all wall-warts as a very annoying and unfortunately necessary evil.

I think I know what you mean. The xbox 360 and its hd-dvd drive have a step down (if you can call it that) external power supply. From that you have a normal pronged plug (normal for your region of the world I imagine - US in my case so its two prong). That is nice except sometimes its a little difficult concealing the extra power strip. But at least it makes finding a spot on a power strip easier since its a normal smallish size.

    Something like this:

This is usually a switching power supply, but they can also be regulated DC power supplies.

@numbersix - yes that is exactly what I was talking about in reference to your description. The xbox 360 has a monster of one for the main console. The hd-dvd add on drive has one that is about that size. The coiled plug that is in that picture goes into the electronic device and than a normal plug to the wall goes in the other end of that block.

The xbox 360 power supply is a huge monster because it is 200w.

Yes - I'd love it if they could all be normal sized plugs
    Big power supplies are unsightly.
Dealing with a two or more can sometimes be challenging.

The thing I hate also is when you don't have a LONG enough cord as well.

You always need just another inch or two to make it.....

    I can't win!

The transformer on the end of the cord will either block the next rececptical or force me to turn one upside down in a standard duplex which usually causes the transformer to just barely catch and often fall out at the worst moment. My cell charger is another type of brick on the end of the wire and it has the folding prongs for travel. What a POS! It barely catches without any compitition from other transformers.

My laptop cord has the brick in the middle of the cord but the half of the cord that goes to the laptop keeps coming unpluged from the transformer with the slightest movement, same as my camcorder

And don't even get me started on a couple of different car cigarette adaptors!

@zapper - yeah those ones that fold are annoying also. The DS adpater is like that - with the swivel out plug. Luckily it seems to snap in pretty firm.

yeah, the kids DS adaptor seems solid but we always plug it into a power strip so it doesn't have to hang from the wall

on a side note I just heard on the radio that they are pushing for a cell phone charger "Standard" the mini USB

Isn't that the one almost all motorolas use now?. I had a V3 and a Pebble and they both used it.

I think It's REALLY useful to be able to charge your cell phone from your pc, I just plugged the usb cable to the pc and voila!.
