  1. I use smart ripper to pull the movie from the DVD no problem, but i can not
get any software to encode it.

I normaly use flask to video server and tnmpeg to encode, works great most of the time.

Flask - 1st error on angle 1 says can not flask this dvd
Flask - 2nd error using angle 2 when the tnmpeg starts pulling the video it
will crash all 3 programs out, no other dvd has done this yet.

xmpeg - same situation, crashes out.

dvdx - works, encodes the whole movie but you get very bad audio crackle every 60 seconds or so and the audio is out of sync with video, I have tried every possable combination of settings and could not get the audio to sync up.

have not tried beta .60 of flask.

does anyone know what i can do to get this to convert?????

  5. FIXED MY PROBLEM!!!!

unknown to me at the time.... if you DONT open the IFO file but open the
first VOB flask will auto grab the rest of the VOB's and process it like a full
movie, and not give me errors, now i can do this on a few dvds that were giving my issues..

    thank for the info guys.

  6. For the best results use Nandub for DivX (SBC encoding = best DivX quality) or my favorite, SVCD (better quality than DivX IMO and DVD compatible) with TMPGEnc (or Panasonic or CCE). i started of with MPEG2AVI and FlaskMPEG to encode to DivX but then once i discovered the afformentioned tools i realized how shitty the others were, but Flask and MPEG2AVI were good tools for learning the basics so i can't give them too much shit.

PS. TMPGEnc, Panasonic, and CCE all give great quality and from there its just a preference of which u like best, personally i love TMPGEnc. i experience the best overall results and know the settings very well so that i can modify them to fix most problems. but keep in mind, all DVDs are different, some will look better in one encoder than in another, some will look the same, but mostly, its all subjective to your preference.
