I took several plant pictures and want to ask some experts to identify them. I was told to post the pictures online and provide the experts with the link to view the pictures online. Do you know any reliable host website that allows the users to post their pictures and video clips for the public viewing?

  2. I use tinypic.com for pictures, it's very reliable.

For videos, Youtube is pretty bad for quality, but at least it's fairly reliable and free

There are many other free options if you search

ImageShack.US is also a good host for images. I use them on forums that don't allow direct upload.

Thanks for the info. After the pictures are uploaded to the host website, do the other people need to download them into their computer for reviewing or they can view the pictures online directly? They do not want to download the pictures but watch them online due to the virus concerning.

  5. If you can view them, they are downloaded to your system, in the temp internet directory. All the HTML images (e.g. your pepsi icon) work this way. So yes, they are uploaded to the host website, and if you can see it, they are downloaded somewhere on your pc already.

For videos, it depends if they progressive download (ie. HTTP streaming, like Youtube), or RTSP streaming. The 1st case the file is downloaded as you view automatically, the 2nd is not.

Is there any host website that allows the users to post their pictures for the public viewing without to be downloaded into the user’s pc, just like message here for everyone viewing?

Nope. You might be able to set it so images aren't stored in the temp internet directory (this would probably be a setting in your particular browser), but they have to be downloaded in order for you to view them

If you are viewing this message, you have already downloaded it.
