  1. I have an SVCD mpeg that I want to multiplex. Tmpegenc won't open the file for multiplexing and reports the following error:
    "Illegal MPEG stream."
However, the mpeg does play in Windows Media Player but will NOT play in PowerDVD. Can someone tell me how I can fix this mpeg? Thanks.

P.S. The mpeg is Monsters Inc. SVCD in case that helps.

  2. Play the file in Media Player, and check the properties, and let us know which codecs are being used to decode the MPG file, your problem might just be a mix of decoders fighting for the file.

  4. Ok, both of you, if your file IS an SVCD, why are you trying to multiplex it ?
If you want to convert it to VCD, you need to do encoding, not multiplexing.

  6. #1 the multiplex trick only works sometimes. make sure you set the type feild to mpeg-1. this will make a sort of bastardized form of XVCD that will play on some players that support XVCD playback but not ALL players.

#2 when you run this MPEG tool it may seem that the program has locked up or that nothing is happening. be paitent here and dont end it prematurley. get up and walk away and come back in 10 or 15 minutes. there is no status indicator to show you the progress but it is working, just give it some time. unless you get an error message then it is running.

if you really think it has stoped then press ctrl+alt+del and look and see if it is reporting that the program has stoped responding.
    peace out,
