Hello,
I'm hoping someone might be able to help me. I'm trying to back up my DVDs but am having trouble playing them in my Philips DVP5990.
I use DVDFab HD Decrypter to rip my dvds and ImgBurn to burn them onto Verbatim 2.4x DL discs.
My problem is with my dvd player. Some discs load quickly, some take like 5 minutes to load, and others will spin for over 10 minutes and never load at all. Also the ones that never load in the player work fine in my computer.
Anyone else have this problem? From what I read on here, loading times can be long on the DVP5990, but should it take over 10 minutes? Do I need to wait longer? Could this problem be from the ripping/burning software?
Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thank you

One last post....
I tried the DL disc in an older Toshiba DVD player and the movie loaded in like 5 seconds. So, I put it back in the Philips and after 4 minutes it loaded.
Anyone have an idea why it wouldn't load at all for over 10 minutes one time and then load after 4 minutes the next time I put it in?
The player is only a couple months old. Should I try cleaning it? -
I am having the same problem with DVP5992. Using different DL brands did not seem to help, at least with RIDATA and Philips. It appears that the problem only shows up when the video content fills up the disc. The same problem discs were loaded fine in other DVD player.
BTW, I use Nero to burn.
Please let us know if you an idea how to work around this problem. TIA. -
I think its the Fab decrypter software. I have a 5992 and no problems only with dvd fab
I use a piece of software,
http://www.slysoft.com/en/
then use imgburn to create an iso then burn that with imgburn.
Verbatim DL +R is the only way to go.
I would also try dvd shrink to create an uncompressed iso or dvd files then use img burn to burn, you never know when dvd shrink will decrpypt.
