Can I put an mp3 or .wav in a menu? So if you're choosing your mpg there will be background music? Also, what program is the best for making menus, Nero is ok but I want something a little more flashy.

  2. Nero menus don't work properly so I don't recommend them...

Otherwise, VCDImager, VCD Toolkit, VideoPack and others are all quite good.

If you use VCDImager (the principals apply to all), you can get audio on a menu if you use a video clip as the menu, or, if you use an audio only segment play item...

You can find out more here:

  3. You can also multiplex audio onto the still stream. Using the lo-res,hi-res *.m1v and a *.mpa file. The picture will "last" for the length of the audio clip. I have yet to encode pictures to *.m1v that don't have a color shift - the YUV fields aren't aligned.

As a side note - if you multiplex several pictures and an audio clip, the pictures will display as a slideshow (no FF/REW) for the length of the clip. THe pictures will display for #_of_pics / length_of_clip seconds.

  4. I believe that's how one of the "photo" VCD authoring proggies do it, but this isn't completely standard and doesn't work on some players...
