  1. Okay, I haven't seen this answered yet in the newbie section. Please help. How do I resynch audio and video in an already converted mpeg 1 vcd compliant file. Please help, the vcd is beautiful but the sound synch is like a bad karate flick. Thanx in advance.

  2. Is it out of synch on the computer or after you've burned it to disc? You question implies it's in the file. Is the ultimate goal playback on the computer or to burn to disc? If you're going to burn, I'd burn a sample before concluding you have a problem.

You might get ahold of Womble. It has a audio synch feature on it's multiplexing function. I believe that TMPGEnc also allows for audio offset.

First determine the type of synch problem you have, displaced or stretched. As I understand it, displaced is where sound is off consistently throughout the video while stretched is where it gets more off as the video progresses. You might check:

It helped me a bunch to understand and repair. However, in general, when I have badly out of synch sound, I think it's better to discover the cause, fix it, and re-do the video.

    Good luck

  3. Thank you for the info I will investigate the womble. I didn't see the option for audio offset in TMPGEnc and that is what I used. To be honest I don't know if the source mpeg was synched or not. I converted to mpeg vcd and then split into two files. All 3 files are out of synch and it seems progressive from and average of 10 - 23 seconds.

You can possibly resync it with TMPEGnc in the advanced settings under frame range (I forget the exact label but it's the first one under advanced settings). But most likely the problem is in the recording and you might have to re-record.

  5. not sure if tmpgenc can fix sync with frame range? thought it's for both a/v range such as cutting off end credits or something. Here is what I did to fix sync (displacement). Use tmpgenc to demux your mpg. Use tmpgenc to cut the delayed either a or v. Finally, remux them. It requires lipread skill but anyone can do it. Just make sure to cut out a couple of seconds (depending how bad your sync) to do it, because it may take several times of trial and error.
