    hi all this is my first post, please be gentle.
    i am trying to convert avi movies to watch on a dvd player, but dont have a clue what i should be doing ! any help please?

    Least technical answer: Buy Roxio Toast. It will do the conversion to MPEG2, the authoring, and the burning. Apple's media recommendation: Verbatim.

  3. Where did these files come from and if you open them with this software gspot what video and audio type do they say they are.

    A new dvd player that will play them burnt as data might be a good investment, rather than converting them to dvd.
    Sorry if I am going too techno.

  4. Useful as Toast is, if you're going to be doing such a conversion often you're far better off getting one of the Philips DVD players that also play DivX/Xvid.

    If you're quick/lucky you can even snaffle a free upgrade
