i have a ton of recorded tv shows but i don't have the time to watch all of them in real time... so i was thinking is there a software that can scan and detect breakups, glitches and sound cut outs in my recorded tv shows?

    thanks in advance

None that I have ever seen that really work. Just because a file has glitches and dropouts, it still may be a valid file. VLC and a few other players can play damaged files, and you may never notice. So even watching them with some players may not show any faults.

You can check some obvious things with Gspot or MediaInfo. Or load them into a video editor like VirtualDub or similar and it may tell what major problems the file may have.

    Recorded how ?

For example, a digital tuner card may produce a corrupt file if the signal glitches during recording, but a DVD Recorder recording from a DVB settop box will simply record the glitch as part of the image a produce a valid and happy file that happens to have a visual glitch.

Detecting broken indexes and other issues may be handled by virtualdub or one of the repair tools. Simply looking for audio or visual glitches is much more difficult and subjective, and not done by software well. Even software designed to look for ad breaks etc tend to produce a lot of false positives and, for my money at least, or a waste of time.
