    Hi, I have an AVI file which cannot be opened by WIndows Media Player. I get a message saying teh file needs to be reinterleaved. I tried it with VirtualDUb but the new file still cannot start playing. ANy suggestions please?

    Any idea please for re -interleaving the .avi file? Maybe I did the wrong procedure with VirtualDub? I opened it in VD and then checked the 'quick stream video' in video and 'quick stream video' in audio and then tried to save the .avi file. Still it doesn't work. WHen I try to open the new file I created I don't get back the graphs of AVI Chunk Viewer anymore, but I still cannot open the video file. Did I do anything wrong? Thanks in advance.

  3. Try avidemux, when you open the avi, it will as you to rebuild the index, say yes

    set the video sidebar=>copy
    audio sidebar=>copy
    format=>avi

    press save with extension (e.g. "myfile.avi")

    You did the right thing with VirtualDub. What error do you get when you try to play the video now? Have you tried any decent players like MPCHC or VLC?
