Can anyone here recommend a good, reliable VCR for under $100? I now the new VCRs suck (cheap build quality/components) so I'm sure I'll have to go the ebay/used/refurb route, but I've got a friend in need for a reliable VCR and they're willing to go on ebay. They don't need anything fancy, just a good VCR for playback (they don't need it for transfers or anything).

So, can anyone recommend any good models that are easily obtainable?

    Thanks!

  2. Ministry88,

If you (or your friend) are looking for a deck for playback solutions, then you don't need a VCR (Video Cassette Recorder) but a VCP (Video Cassette Player). If space is of any concern, then I would recommend the compact VCP SVP-DC1 from Sony. However, if you want to power it via an electrical outlet, then you need an AC to DC adapter, if I recall correctly, but they are easy to find. Anyway, the important thing is that this deck is well below USD 100.00. There are some on Ebay right now for USD 35.00 plus shipping.

    Best of luck,

  3. Most thrift shops in the US have lots of VCR's for about $5-10.
