  1. i tried following the steps on the "how to" part, and i went back to look at my new file that i created in TMPGEnc. and it was 352x240. Is there anyway i can keep its original resolution so it looks better on vcd? or is that just the way the quality is going to be?

Try XVCD or SVCD for higher quality.

  4. You will be creating an XVCD, but here is how to do it. (I just tried this recently, it played on my dvd player, but instead of black lines on the top and bottom their was a really huge black bar on the bottom the video on top. It cut of the top part of the video too. Also if i fast fowarded to fast, it created garbage for the rest of the time on the right side. So use at your own risk!!!)
    640 272
    1. Open TMPGENC, load your vcd template, and then unlock it.
    2. Go into settings, in the video tab change the size to 640 by 272
    3. Switch to the Advanced tab, and change the video arrange method to Center (custom size) Put in 640 by 272 there again.
    4. Convert like normal.

(Step 3 may not be necessary, you might just have to do fullscreen (keep aspect ratio. I haven't test that before, but play around and see what works.)

If anybody knows a better method I would love to her it!

    Hope this helps!!!

I had the same problem, what I did was (using TMPGEnc v2.51) went thru the wizard (File/Project Wizard incase it doesn't start by itself) then on the screen with Source Range, Clip Fram, and Noise Reduction, look at the bottom and select Other Settings, then click on the Advanced tab. Next to Video Arrange Method, select "Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio)" that will keep the framesize the same. I have a widescreen AVI that kept getting squished, this keeps it in widescreen

  7. to unlock, just press the "load" button. then enter the "extra"-folder and select "unlock.mcf". Now the template you selected before you did this, is unlocked.
