  1. Hi, I already tried Dazzle Video Creator Plus and Dazzle Video Recorder and I was unable to create a good DVD-R movie.

Dazzle Video Recorder is very good to create a complete DVD-R from Cable/TV but I want to be able to remove the commercials. This app does not give the option to pause to skip the commercials and Dazzle Video Creator Plus is very complicated to edit the file once created on the computer. The app freezes the computer.

I want to record to DVD-R without commercials. Is there any app out there that could allow me to do this without doing to much editing and other computer tasks?

You could try one of these capture programs, but I don't know if they will work with that converter: https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/capture Alternately, if you can capture to MPEG, you could use a MPEG editor to remove commercials. VideoReDo is one of the popular editors. Then you could author the MPEG to DVD with something like GUI for dvdauthor.

Or you may be able to edit the DVD file before burning it to disc. A few DVD/MPEG editors: https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/video-editors-mpg-dvd

And this isn't Video Streaming. Moving you to Editing Forum.

  3. I'm sorry to post in the wrong forum. Thank you for your help. I'll try those utilities. So far, I was able to create a MPEG file. I just need to remove the commercials and burn to CD or DVD depending of how big the file becomes. I don't need high quality just regular MPEG is fine. All I need is to have those important shows or documentals.

MPEG Streamclip for basic cut and paste editing of your MPEG and GUI for dvdauthor to create the DVD structure may work well for you. Simple and free. Use ImgBurn to burn the disc.

Comskip and ComClean might be able do the job.

Terribly sorry to break it to you, but Dazzle products are terrible. Trust me, I've been through it for two of their horrible capture "towers" - a 1999 and a 2004 product - yes, they burned me twice with me thinking they'd get their act together after 5 years. Yeah right. No wonder the company got so much flak in reviews.

I am NOT surprised your software freezes. Sounds awfully familiar. Ok, you've managed to capture, great, but those files are probably corrupt with bad headers, GOPs, etc, and will fall out of sync no doubt with the audio. Heck, they seem to be choking the very software the source capturing hardware runs on.

As well, the capturing products are proprietary - they will not capture with any other software other than what comes with them.

Editing is possible with the resultant streams with other software, like cutting commercials - but that's assuming the streams are not damaged.

For your captures, I'd cut with other utilities such as Womble, TMPGEnc or VideoReDo, all fine editing tools for lossless MPEG editting (they only re-encode the frames around the cuts/joins).

But you may need to run a "repair" on the streams beforehand - use VideoReDo (Tools -> QuickStream Fix), that is, IF the files are fixable.

Better yet, I'd say scrap Dazzle entirely and capture with a better product. The few $$ you will lose on it by letting it go is a small price in order to avoid the weeks/months/years ahead of the certain headaches you're likely to suffer from it later.

Personally, I just didn't have the conscience to eBaY the products to someone else after my experience. But I will say I enjoyed the smell of the plastic melting after I burned them instead.
I hate VHS. I always did.

Thanks for sharing your bad experience, I just returned that POS.
