  1. ok I downloaded lord of the rings.mpg but the sound is off by like 15 seconds but the quality is so great that I would like to keep it so I may burn it.. So my question is, is there a way I can fix that or am I just screwed?

its a long process but you can load the mpg file into TMPGEnc and then select settings, in settings select advanced, at the top select the source range by double clicking the small box , this allows you to select the start and end point of the movie but also the sound offset
    hope this helps :P
