    Hy guys, first post.
    Top site/Forum by the way.
I have authored DVD's with Spruce up no probs from m2v&ac3 files as per the tutorials that are out there.
no probs, dvd-r works spot on in PS2 and My cyberhome DVD player.
however, when I then copy that dvd-r with nero 5.5.7.2 the subsequent DVD-R only works in the DVD player, not the PS2 ?????
anyone come across that one ????
I know I can watch them fine in my DVD player, but I have familt who want to watch the DVD on there PS2.
I know I could just re author the disc, but it takes some time that way.
I also used smart ripper 'Backup' to rip files and then burn video_ts and Audio_ts files with nero, also same prob DVD-Player - yes, PS" - no !!!

    strange.
I also have primo DVD and DVD-IT and Instant DVD/CD if you guys think they may be any better !!!!!
    please help.

  2. I observed that Nero is more tolerant than Primo DVD in burning authored DVDs . However it sacrifices compatibility with it. I have burned a few authored dvds using Nero and Prassi. Nero burned DVD R would fail to play on the majority of my dvd players. OTOH Prassi has always been 100% compatible. If Prassi detects that the there is something wrong with the authored DVD, it will give an error( you have to enable this option in Prassi) prior to burning the disc. Try to use Prassi instead of Nero. Make sure to enable "recognize, check, and format the Video_TS and Audio_TS folders as per DVD specification". This can be found on menu->tools->data disc.

BTW if you end up with an error saying something is wrong with the data with Prassi, the most likely cause is that the authored dvd is not within the dvd spec. You still can use the dvd r disc since Prassi hasnt committed real burn on the disc yet.

  4. I think that files have to be all CAPS to work in some players. I don't have enough money to keep testing this out but I will find out for sure. Nero sometimes copies files in lower caps and the disk won't work on my Sony. But if I make sure that every single file is in all caps then it works (at least, that's what seems to be the only difference in the copies that I have made). I have not been able to get a DVD to play in my PS2 yet, however. Let me know if your copied disk has lower case filenames and if the one that works has upper case because I'd like to know if that's B.S. or not. (I've only been messing around with my burner for a few days now).

  5. Perhaps when you make a DVD from an authored thing, it burns it under the "CDROM (UDF/ISO)" format, but the disc copy just makes a "CDROM (ISO)" disk.
I'm not sure about that, though. Whenever I copy a DVD-R disc, I copy the contents to my hard drive, and write with the proper format afterwards.

Interesting theory (caps vs mixed case)
But I have 2 versions of the fast and the furious.
both with video_ts and audio_ts folders in caps and contents in caps.
one was authored in Spruce up, (works in both PS2 and DVD player)
other was nero burning files/folders from HD in UDF/ISO mode.(only works on dvd player).
I've also tried dvd/dvd-r copy in nero via HD and that also only worked in player (from a DVD-R that works in both).
I am about to try Mummy returns, first with Spruce up, and then make a copy of it with Prassi's primoDVD.
