When I use the Nero AAC encoder (through dbpoweramp) to convert a stereo mp2 to aac, all works fine if I'm using LC or HEv1.

But if I encode to HEv2 the file is mono and half the size of a 'no forced profile' aac - which I guess means LC.

Gspot reports it as mono, mediainfo reports it as mono, Quicktime crashes - but dbpoweramp claims it's stereo.

    Any idea what's going on?

  2. I don't use dbpoweramp, but I can confirm that conversion works properly (ie. stereo, SBR, PS) with MeGUI using NeroAAC 1.3.0.0 if you want to try something different

Thanks; I now reckon it's a Gspot issue - just encoded a track which gspot is reporting as mono but has definite spatial effects. So instead of looking out for a new encoder I'm looking at finding a better codec analyser

I'll have a look at megui though too
