    what does this do exactly?
could it take a normal SKY ouptut via a special SCART-to-YPbPr cable and upscale it to HD 720p/1080p and then run that to HD-TV via HDMI cable...??? - I doubt it but just wanted to know...

is there a seperate 'upscaler unit' you can get as to upscale any normal SKY or Freeview to HD (upscaled)?

It doesn't appear to scale anything. It just takes analog componet Y,Pb,Pr in and performs an A/D to HDMI (with HDCP ... requires handshake with monitor). Format in = format out.

Almost all HDTV sets will take analog components directly. I don't know what this is for except maybe to interface an audio receiver that only passes HDMI.

  3. thanks edDV - i didnt think it did - just with it saying HD Converter that it MAY upscale or summit

MY SKY is SCART or ARIEL (tuned into CH8) and the ARIEL is actually better picture quality than the SCART connection (less noise) - but still not happy with it - as SKY-HD is only £49 +£30 install I may aswell get that but youve got to pay £10 a month to have HD channels activated - rest upscaled by the reciever
