Lets say a Blu-ray has this audio track:

    TrueHD with an embedded 5.1 448kbps AC3

Does any one know if there is any benefit in reencoding the audio to 5.1 640kbps AC3
instead of just extracting the embedded 448kbps AC3?

    eac3to.exe input.thd output.ac3
    vs
    eac3to.exe input.thd output.ac3 -640

leaving it intact is what i would do instead of transcoding lossy to lossy formats.
