    hi Guys,

Just a quick one here, my dads thinking of getting appleTV for his new TV. He wants to convert all of his videos to .MOV format from AVI but not lose any quality and still be the same file size.

On my mac i can open AVIs in quicktime pro and select save as. then save it as a .MOV - this works great, the vids are the same size and quality. Plus its super quick!

The only problem is that doing that to over 300 films and 1000's of tv show episodes would take me decades, So my question is...

Does anybody know a converting progam which will do this for me, simple, stress free?

Ive tried a few so far (Some crappy free ones) and have tried any DVD comverter but the filesize balloons and they take ages to convert.

If quicktime can convert it as fast as it does with no hassle then surely theres another program out there to handlt batch converting

    Any suggestions welcome.

    Cheers

    R.

    Here's one guide: http://vallery.net/2007/03/23/setting-up-an-automated-workflow-to-convert-files-for-ap...le-tv-on-os-x/

You can find others by doing a internet search for ' quicktime pro batch convert '.

get VisualHub. You can drag and drop all films
and tv episodes into it's big batch window,
select convert for AppleTV in the iPod Setting,
    and click go.
It will go until the end , and all files will be ready for AppleTV.

VisualHub is no more as we know it.
You could try Film Redux which is the open source VisualHub.

Last I looked at Film Redux Lawn ( around Nov 08) it still had
a ways to go to match Visual Hub's power and features.
    Has this since been corrected?

Also, not to step on the spirit of this forum, but VH is
still out there, just google it if need be.

There is a program call Mpeg Streamclip. I use it all the time on my mac to convert all types of files. One thing though, you have to purchase a key to use all formats. It still allows you to convert to most formats even if you don't have the key. It even rips DVDs straight to mov.

    Good luck.
