I know I just had a post written about my problem with ffmpeg but I realize that it has to do with my audio. Most if not all are ac3 as we all know in mkv files. I have tried ffmepgx, mencoder, visualhub and handbrake. Only success I have had is with ffmpegx and its not 100%. I either have no sound or choppy sound, or just wont play on the 360. Oh and sometimes video is too fast.

Anyways my question is there any app out there with ac3 5.1 support that I have not tried? I have been using my pc for doing this sort of job and its just too slow now. This wouldnt be a problem anymore because 2channel encoding is fine but I cannot wrap my head around the idea that I have a hdtv and surround sound yet I would have to watch with Stereo

    TIA

    Biggy

Another tool to try is MKVtools by EmmGunn. It is a neat app to process MKV to AVI or to MP4. It even has a Xbox 360 preset, from what I read in the description.

XviD is a video codec, very much like DivX and other MPEG-4 Part 2 codecs (but XviD is open source). It says nothing about the audio.
MKVtools has a radio botton for AC3 passthrough.

Tried that too didnt work. Does the Ac3 codec for quicktime have to be installed? Im update quicktime now. Would that have anything to do with connect 360 and my xbox getting no sound?

Now I know for sure that ac3 stereo work fine on mac and xbox. So something about the audio is getting messed up in it all. Could this be the source, im not exactly sure what it means.

Too many audio packets in the buffer: (3278 in 8391680 bytes).
Maybe you are playing a non-interleaved stream/file or the codec failed?
For AVI files, try to force non-interleaved mode with the -ni option

Mind you these hardly get completed.

I have done hours and hours of testing and cant figure it out. I finally got a 100% completed file with ac3 but the xbox will not play sound. It says 5.1 on my yamaha reciever but nothing. Just picture, and even thats fine no skips. Im pretty sure ac3 stereo works fine. So I have no idea where to check next. That 100% completed file still had some errors in it but it plays in Quicktime no problems at all and media info says 6 channel.

Hell is there a app that does wmvhd and pro 5.1 on a mac? Unlikely im guessing

Does my reciever have anything to do with it. Yamaha htr-6030 Dolby Pro 2
