I have been burning DVD's for a little while and I have run into a problem. Twice with two different movies, original format was AVI and played with no problem. Once I converted it to DVD the end product looks black and white with a rainbow effect. Im using 1 click DVD movie and this has only happened 2 out of 40 movies. Any help is appreciated.

Check the framerate of those two AVIs. They may be PAL (25fps) and that could be causing problems for your converter. Gspot or MediaInfo should be able to tell you the framerate. And you might try a different converter, maybe DVD Flick, FAVC or one of the others.

Other than that, checking with Gspot or MediaInfo may show if there is something else different with the two failed conversions.

    And welcome to our forums.

Ok I used mediainfo to see the movies specs and nothing seemed to be different from the previous movies that burnt ok. Let me know if anything seems off to you.

    Thanks,

  5. What do the VOB files on the DVD say in Mediainfo?
Do the avi's look fine when you play them on your PC?If so then the encoder you are using is the problem, try DVDFlick.

I've never used "1-click," so it's hard to say what it's doing. But it is almost certainly the cause of your problem. If you can play the original clips fine, then it's time to try a different encoder. A free one is Quick Media Converter.

Another thought: If you've installed one of those mega codec packs, uninstall it/them. 1-click might be using an out-of-date or incompatible codec for decoding, leading to your problem.

They do play fine on the PC prior to burning. I just didn't understand why it only happens to a select very few movies. I will try different software and see if that helps. Thank you all for you help.

  8. The height of your source video is mod2. Your MPEG4 decoder requires Mod4 and is screwing up the chroma channels when decoding. I don't know what decoder 1 click DVD movie is using. You might try converting the file to something else as an intermediate with VirtualDub -- say, HuffYUV AVI. Or try changing MPEG4 decoders. If you're using Divx, switch to Xvid, or vice versa.
