I have Burned three dvds, all three play on my PC DVD player. Two of the dvds play on my stand alone dvd player, but one does not, it shows ''no disc'' in the top left corner, like i said, all three play on my PC, but one dvd does not play on my stand alon. I cleaned the back of the disc, but still get the same problem. Any Advise. Thanks.

Yes I did, it said burned completed, and the disc came out on the dvd tray, same as the others.

I have a portable that does the same thing on reauthored discs - it apparently would rather have no menu than a modified one. I had an older player that wouldn't play a DVD without a menu. It may be an authoring or disc issue...

It could be a variety of things.

    1) Bad media. See http://www.nomorecoasters.com for an idea of good media.
    2) Your DVD player has a strong preference for DVD+R over DVD-R (or vice-versa) or you didn't tell us that you used DVD+RW or DVD-RW for the problem disc and DVD+R or DVD-R for the other discs. Some older players don't like re-writable media much.

PCs are significantly less fussy about media types and such than standalone players so that's why your problem disc plays fine there.

Im using Datasafe Lightscribe DVD-R Discs.

Two of the same discs work fine on the stand alone, except one. The dvd player is a few years old, maybe 5.

I really feel like it is the disc itself, because the rest of the same discs work great., sometimes before burning, it gives me an option for 2x, 4x and so on. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Are datasafe discs a good brand? is it possible I bought a bad batch? with a few bad discs in the pack.
