  1. I have the WD TV USB Player, which I love. It plays almost any video, ie. mkv, avi, vob, and iso. The only issue I have is that all of the mkv files audio, skips about every ten seconds. I'm not sure what is going on, but I have to believe it is something with the player, because it is on all of the mkv's. The other files, whose audio is not 5.1, play just fine with no skipping. Is anyone else having the same issue? How did you fix it? Any help woud be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

You're gonna have to be more specific than saying "5.1". If you're talking about AC3, something is definitely wrong. If you're talking about DTS, well, that can happen (DTS decoding is tough on this kind of device). If you're talking about AAC, I have no idea if that's to be expected or not. The only MKV file I played on the device (sorry, but I don't use MKV much) had 5.1 AC3 audio and it played fine with the out of the box firmware (no update applied).

  3. The 5.1 AC3 play fine. It is a problem with the 5.1 DTS. I have the updated firmware. Is it possible to go back to the older software? The problem I had with the older firmware was it would not play all video files.

Back to the original question. Any suggestions on the 5.1 DTS?

    njsges,

There's a workaround for this in the wiki:

A poster suggested a possible reason for this bug here:

But I don't know if it's correct or not. Hopefully it will be addressed in the next firmware update, which is rumored to be coming soon.

It is possible to downgrade the firmware (you first have to rename the older firmware so that the WD will think it's a newer version). The older firmware and the method to downgrade are both available at the wiki. Whether that will help with the stuttering, I don't know; I don't have a DTS decoder.
