Ok here is my problem. After downloading a 700mg disk and then burning it I get the following directories: EXT, MPEG2, SEGMENT, SVCD. MPEG2 has AVSEQ01.mpg in it. I can't play it with media player but WINDVD will. I really would like to play it in my SONY DVD player. When I burn the disk I get a no cd message on the Sony DVD player. Is there a way to convert this to VCD, which my player is suppose to play?

    thanks,

    tim

  2. First make sure the MPEG file is a standard VCD file
    For PAL = 352x288 (25 frames)
    For NTSC = 352x240 (29,97 frames)

And then use the "Demultiplex" and "Multiplex" function in TMPGEnc and you should be able to burn the file to a playable VideoCD.

Ok i know this is a stupid question, but how do I make sure the MPEG file is a standard VCD file? When I try to use multiplex or de-multiplex I get illegal mpeg video stream.........

  4. i'm guessing you'll have to actually pass the file through tmpgenc, not only demultiplex and remultiplex if it's a standard svcd...

  7. as i said reconvert your svcd file to vcd standard you'll lose a bit of quality but if your player can play vcd it will work.

    Hello all--

Let's sort through this. First off, the folder sequence that was mentioned is for SVCD, not VCD (hence the mpeg-2 folder). Thus, the VCD specs given do not apply. If you try to re-multiplex this as a VCD, Tmpgenc will often give you an "illegal stream" message.
Some Sony players have a hard time playing SVCD's--they dont recognize them. Try remuxing the mpeg as "vcd-non standard" and burn it as a vcd. I have heard that this tricks some of the Sony players into playing SVCD's when they otherwise won't. If all else fails, re-encode the video to VCD standards. . but I would recommend exhausting all other options first.
