  1. i want to know what format does Freesat and SKY broadcast their HD channels in?

    720p?
    or
    1080i?

or is it just 576p (PAL) and its your HD reciever UPSCALING them to 720p or 1080i?

the reason i ask is my Dad has FreesatHD and gets BBC HD and I wondered what format its broadcast in

  2. Sky+HD broadcasts both 1080i and 720p:

    BBC appears to broadcast 1080i:

When they are showing old footage, like 1960's era Doctor Who, it will simply be standard definition video upscaled to 720p or 1080i.

The current series of Doctor Who was also shot in SD! To the best of my knowledge no episode has yet been transmitted in HD, upscaled or otherwise.

  10. If you search for itv hd 1440 all the references you will find say the DVB stream is 1440x1080 or 1440x1088. I saw no indications of 1440x720 anywhere.
