    Hello,

I have a WD Elements 500 HDD http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=333, which has 8 folders ( named 2007,2006....,2000). In each of these folders, there are almost 100 DivX movies.

I have connected this HDD to my DVP 5980.

The problem is that the player does not show the contents of some folders. In other words, the folders 2004,..2000 are being shown empty. whereas, the contents of other folder are accessible and fine.

Is it a problem from player or from HDD ? Any solution ?

  2. 800 files is too much 668 (citation needed) is max number of files.. see website for max folders, max files...get a WD HD TV instead, max no files 2 to the power 42, more files than atoms in the observable universe. 8)

Be interesting to see how it decides which files to show..creation date? place in fat table?

From Manuel "The unit can only support up to a
maximum of 300 folders and 648 fi les."

I do not have this player, but in a thread a few weeks ago someone asked about file and folder limits on this same player. When I suggested that 648 was a total file limit, I was rebuked by one of the old forum hands and told that it was 648 files per folder. How very interesting that I seem to have been right about this being a total file limit and not a per folder limit.
