When disc I used get old generally they just stop being read in my DVD players but now and then sarange things happen.

Recently a couple have worked in my player (either one or the other or sometimes both) but not in my PC also they show up as DVD-Video in the player and not DVD+RW

I am just interested in :-

    a) any way to rescue the final recordings that might not play
    b) whats going on as I usually throw the disc away.

There could be any number of issues going on here. First and foremost, you should be using quality media. I'd suggest only using Verbatim.

Problems can occur when using low quality media, compatibility issues between your media and your players, dirty/scratched media, dirty player, or an aged/failing player.

The easiest thing to try, as noted above, is a quality media.

Discs that aren't readable in a PC (when burned in a recorder) are typically the result of the recording mode being VR mode and not video mode.
