Hello all, what format should I use to save movies on my hard drive? Looking to save space. Is it AVI? If so, what's the most reliable/easy to use converter? Freeware if possibe.Thanks very much

DVD>hard drive? Try AutoGK and use the Xvid codec. (You will have to decrypt the DVD first. For other types of video files, H.264 can create smaller files, but it takes more CPU power to create and to play back. Maybe more than a laptop can handle.
But if you want to try H.264, look at FairUse Wizard for easy conversions. XviD4PSP is also a popular freeware converter for that format and others.
