  1. Does anyone know of a utility that will extract frames from an mpeg file. I would like to be able to specify a frame number, and have the utility extract that frame to a jpeg or bmp file.

  2. have you tried a program called Adobe Premiere?

you load the mpeg and then pick your frame and then go "export frame" and choose your format and WAMO there you go!

    hope that helps

  3. Another method is to load the mpeg (or any video for that matter) into VirtualDub, and move to the frame you want. Go to the "Video" menu and choose "Copy source frame to clipboard".

If you want to use the image in a document, you might be able to paste it directly into your word processor or other program without saving it. But if you really need it as a bitmap file, open the Windows Paint program and choose Paste from the Edit menu. Then you can save it.
