I am looking for a DTV converter box that fills all the items on my wish list...
Universal Remote
Pass-Through
Black in color, hey, it HAS to match my other equipment, right?
Built-in power supply, no wall-wart
Properly vented
S-video and RCA out
RCA audio and Dolby Digital (Optical or Digital Coax)
I have not been able to find a box with the last item!
Does it exist?
Thank you!

2 DVD, or not 2 DVD, that is the question.

The Channel Master box has digital coax and S-Video out. But is not black and I doubt the audio is 5.1 AC3 since that is banned on CECB's. Probably PCM.

The Channel Master CM7000 doesn't have analog pass through. It is vented and has an internal power supply. The remote only turns on the CM7000, not the TV. I have one and I have to say the tuner and picture are very good.
If you want S-Video, the CM7000 and a couple of the Apex boxes are the only ones that have it. The Apex DT502 is black, has analog pass-through, and no wall wart. According to some reports, the tuner is not one of the better ones, the remote is poorly made, and the picture may be somewhat greenish. I can't tell you if it has good ventilation or not. Best Buy sells it, so you could go inspect the thing. Seeng as it is black I doubt if ventillation, if present, would be visible any of the online pictures. I don't think it has a remote that can turn on the TV.
