    Hi!
I downloaded a video clip form the internet and its resolution is 720x480. I want to have it in my cellphone and its is screensize is 320x240 and I can see videos at full screen.
I got very confused when I converted it 320x240 because I could see those 2 black lines at the bottom and top. But I think this is because the converter is keeping the proportions of the video.
So, I guess, if I want it to be a "full" 320x240 video without any black line and without stretching it, I should somehow crop those lines.

    How do I do that?

    Thanks a lot

Does the clip have black bars, or is it a 16:9 anamorphic clip ?

If it has black bars, you can use virtualdub to crop off the bars, then crop off the ends until you get the right aspect ratio, the resize down to your phone's resolution.

If it is anamorphic then you need to resize it to 720 x 360 first, then crop off the ends until you have the right aspect ratio, then resize again down to 320 x 240.

Either way you will losing around 25 - 30% of the image off the sides.

    I'm really confused.
I finally could crop it so I cropped those blackbars but I still can see a little of them in the video. So, I guess, this means that the video part itself needs "more image"

I have uploaded a part of the video so oyou can, please, tell me what should I do.
    Code:

(This is a 28 secs preview of the videoclip, I hope this is ok)
    Thanks a lot"

When you crop off the black bars you get an image that is wider than it is tall. When you play it back, the player (or the encoder) puts the bars back in so the image doesn't get stretched. After cropping off the bars, you then have to crop off the left and right edges until you back to a 4:3 aspect ratio. If you are still seeing black bars, you haven't cropped enough off the edges.
