  1. I have Windows XP and keep hearing the noise it makes when you get an error, but there is no error popping up. It seems to do it when I log off and then sometimes just randomly. Is there anyway to find out what the error is? One time I did actually see the error box pop up but it instantly went away and I had no chance to see what it was...

Maybe there is a log somewhere that shows recent errors?

    Thanks guys!

Right-click on My Computer and select Manage from the menu. Expand the Event Viewer entry and look in the Application and System logs for error (red crosses).

Often, when Windows shuts down not all processes are prepared to go gracefully. Windows will try to kill them, but on occasion you will hear the error bell.

  3. Oh I see. Thank you, that's helpful to know.

Most of the errors are 'application hang', mostly Media player and IExplorer. I assume it just means there not shutting down correctly? It does seem to happen almost everytime I logoff, but I don't guess it's hurting anything...that I know of.

    Thank you for your help!

Do you find that WMP or IE are locking up and crashing on you ?

If not, then when you close them before shutting down they are not closing gracefully, and are still running in the background. This is a problem, and you should try to resolve it. You could start by running repair installs of both apps.

Personally, I would just switch over the Firefox and The KM Player, and leave WMP and IE behind as a dusty memory.
