    Hello,

I have no problem burning single layer dvd's but dual layer doesn't seem to work. I've tried CloneCD and imgburn. Can it be that my dvd-writer doesn't support dual layer? Does anyone have a clue what I do?

    Thanks!

  2. Matshita slot loaders have difficulty in actually burning DL media, they often just won't do it despite the specs saying they can. I have two UJ-875s that definitely won't. Make sure you are using Verbatim DL media, no other DL works reliably, especially on the more picky burners. If your UJ-850 rejects even Verbatim DL, but works in every other way, its probably normal. Buy a cheap external burner for DL, if you absolutely have to have DL capability.

  4. The Pioneers are usually pretty good. The DVR-X152 is available new from the usual vendors like NewEgg for about $90. Or, you could check eBay and surplus dealers for the earlier DVR-X122 which I've seen as low as $29.95 if you'll take "refurbished" (i.e. some idiot bought it and couldn't find the USB socket on their laptop so they returned it).
