I wonder whether the tools and methods of copying gaming disk such as Xbox 360 or PS3 same as copy DVD/CD and why?

If you are asking about backing up the game discs you own, most game discs can be backed up to a data disc, but most unmodified game consoles won't play them. I would look to a gaming site for more information as this isn't really related to video.

PS3 will not play backed games, AFAIK, and cannot be made to. The 360, on the other hand, seems to be a pir*, er, backer-upper's dream

  5. On a lot of consoles you can copy a disk but you can't play it back.

Want to select a console that the gaming disc should be easy to copy/backup, just like copy DVD/CD disc because of worrying damage of the disc. Do you know what console gaming disc is easy to copy to a memory card/disc and playable, the Xbox360, Wii, PS3, PSP etc?

Data disc copy protection schemes are MUCH more potent than video or audio. Besides game discs....many navigation discs (especially CD) are damn near un-copyable. My last VW CD Navi system was a prime example. I had that same system in 3 consecutive cars and never made a working copy.

I don't believe any console will let you copy a disc to memory card and play it from there, if that is what you are asking. As far as what console is easiest to "copy" and have modded to play back copies, it appears to be the Wii or the Xbox360.

Playstation2 and HDAdvance is your answer. Buy a LARGE capacity hard disc too.
You want to do this on a current gen system, no dice.

I mean using a computer and software to burn a gaming disc that can be playable in a console. Thus, the original gaming disc can be prevented from damage, just like many discussions of copy DVD movie in this forum. I am interested in such a gaming disc and console instead of hard copy/backup gaming disc and console such as the Sony PSP UMD disc that you have to fix the firmware.

    Yes....we know that.

It still does not change the fact listed above.

    Try gamecopyworld

  13. Forget PS3, that one is impossible right now, plus PS3 may be dropped soon, just like that PSP. Just not enough interest in them.

Xbox360 requires a special drive to read them for backup & then a modded console. Same for a Wii. PS2 disks can be read on your computer but require a mod to play.

Wish this forum could add one topic of Gaming Disc instead of Computer to discuss copy and hack the gaming disc for the console such as Xbox 360, Wii, PSP, PSP2, 3 etc. There seems no much new for copy DVD but gaming disc. Does anyone know more good forums besides of the website http://www.gamecopyworld.com/ to discuss how to copy and hack the gaming disc?

Actually, there are plenty of gaming sites (more than enough) so that having a specific section here is very unnecessary. The Computer section is important because, well, where do you usually do your encoding/editing/etc.?

Also, the unfortunate fact of the matter is that many more people use copying and ripping games to avoid paying for them than people do for movies. At least there is more of a "Benefit of the Doubt" with movies, as they can be made portable or for different platforms, whereas games have only one purpose and platform.

What are all you people doing to your discs anyway?
They come in a case with a hub that holds them in place.
The vast majority of players (video, audio, game, whatever) are designed only to read (and sometimes write) these discs -- not to mangle, shred, or crush them.

I just don't get how so many discs can be destroyed so regularly...
If your kids are destructive brats, try some parenting.

Hell, I'm as clumsy as they get. Two left feet and all thumbs!
All of my game discs (that I bought NEW) are still pristine & immaculate. When I'm not playing the game it's in its case. When I am playing the game it's in the machine.
I have original PlayStation games that are perfect.
If a ham-fisted oaf like me can manage not to destroy my games, what's going on out there?
I can't belive the condition of some of the used games I've seen. Why are so many missing the case and instructions? What freakin' brain-dead idiot immediately opens a new game and throws away all packaging?

    Just wondering...

Why not just use google instead of asking people on a non video game site? You would get better results.

    Oh snap!
The discs I rent, borrow, steal, and buy USED are all scratched to shit...
Is copying THOSE discs the same as copying a movie?
Should I check out the game specific sites that other people have already mentioned?

Why do you insist on loading your microwave in your Ford car and taking it to the Ford dealership and expect Ford to fix your microwave?

I realize this is off topic, but you are purposely not getting the message that this is not a video game site. The mods have even hinted that gamecopyworld is a better place to ask video game questions than asking them here.

'Cause the Ford dealer is just right across the street, whereas the microwave repair shop is all the way across town....

OP: If you can't take care of your games right and really want a backup copy, why don't you just buy used games for the backup? They are pretty cheap...

Those off the topic posting just proved the poster knows nothing about the gaming disc. They may never know why and how to hole the L, R and function three buttons together. What a clodhopper you are!

I have no need to copy games. I take care of my games. You make it sound like it is a magical and mythical thing to copy a disc. It is a disc with an encrypted game on it. As with almost any game system, you need to modify it to play copies of games.

    No further comments are necessary.

Since there are so many off topic posts, might as well close this thread. You might pursue it in some gaming forums.
