I have dozens of VHS tapes that I want to transfer over to DVD. Now, I have a Canopus ADVC-300 converter device, that I am sure you know plugs into the computer and a VCR. Now, the question is... How good of a VCR does it have to be to obtain a good video capture? Does it matter, since I have this device? Or should I go with the JVC HR-S9911 VCR that I see being recommended extensively on the web as one of the best to do the job? Thanks for your help!

Any player will work. The JVC's are often recommended because of their playback quality is often better with tapes other players have issues playing. It basically boils down to the condition of your tapes.
