I have about 799 pictures that I took with my digital camera. I place them on the computer but about 1/2 of them are turned sideways and I always have to rotate them in order to view them upright. Is there any software out there that automatically does this, so I don't have to individually rotate each picture (since it is about 350 pics)?
Also, I need this software to automatically delete the duplicates or at least separate them out.

Try irfanview, I guess it's under Properties->Settings->JPG/PCD/GIF->Auto-rotate image. (If your camera now saves the rotation information in the exif data in the image.)

  3. A lot of Canon point and shot cameras have orientation sensors in them. When you take a sideway picture, and then turn back your camera, the picture will show upright. Maybe the canon software will flip it on the PC too?

  4. Picasa will delete duplicates but it won't rotate the photos automatically,it also has a neat viewer.

Adobe Lightroom is awesome. It won't rotate the photos automatically. Any mods you make to the photos within Lightroom are non-destructive edits so you always keep your originals untouched.

If you're shooting low-quality jpegs and have no need for Lightroom (or don't wish to spend the $200 for it), Kodak has free software:
