Hi, Many thanks for all the posts of region free hacks/firmware and just as much appreciated is the forum itself.

While readers might well find answers to one or more of my questions on the videohelp forums, maybe not.

I ran across a number of posts I'm interested in (ref. the LG RC897T) and these give rise to my questions.

One hit displays two 2007 posts for the comparable LG RC787T, ref.
https://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks?dvdplayer=LG+RC797T&hits=50&Search=Search and these lead me to more posts and need to ask the following.

Might not many/most non-region free specified and CPRM compatable standalone players fail to play a region free DVD, or region free player might only thereafter play back only recorded "Region 0" DVD's as opposed to playing any and all DVD's (regardless of region code), mostly and/or always true?

With respect to what appears as a firmware like hack, ref. http://aiwaownersnetwork.tripod.com/pages/lg/5000_series_firmware.html which supposedly applies to the both LG RC797T and '897T, and from what I gather, firmware type hacks (that I suppose 'flash' the drive) might (once hacked) be irreversible whether or not things might go south?

Ref. a recent post (https://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/lg-rc897t/9605), seems a bit cryptic, at least this newbie is left wondering if someone might elaborate just a bit on what the author intended on sharing, ref. 'may not play Dvix. may recognize Dvix format and may say "This unit don't play this format". Will be applied Opening the OPTION CODE and change values same as the RC797T.'

Another post at https://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks?dvdplayer=LG+RC797T&hits=50&Search=Search, was failrly clear, but an accompanying post leaves me wondering what the author might have said if also elaborating just a bit.

So if someone has confidence as to how the second post might relate, I sure would appreciate just a bit more detail regarding whether or not options 2, 4 & 5 may all be opted, plus I have no idea what the two option 6's actually mean.
My best to all, and to all hap-e-trails,

    wguru

    1) Not sure what you are asking. But region free players will play back DVD's from any region, regardless of the region code on the DVD.

    2) Any hack, firmware or simple remote code can corrupt the player and make it unusable. That is the price you sometimes have to pay for trying to hack a DVD player that doesn't officially support region free.

    3) The OP is stating that the hack is the same, but that model player does not support Divx, hence the error you may get. In other words, the hack won't make the player support Divx, it simply makes is region free.

    4) The player in question has PAL/region 0 support without modification. If you want region free, follow the procedures provided.

You seem to be making this harder than it actually is. If you want/need a region free player, I suggest you get a player that officially supports region free. Otherwise, if you have any specific questions about a player(s), just ask.
