Hello,

First of all, I'm new to this, I have searched the forums endlessly and cannot find answers to what I have been experiencing, hope you masters can help.

I've been fooling around with some conversions of .m2t files from my PVR to .mkv. Being new I thought I would start off with Xvid4PSP, at first I thought I was doing well as my first conversion from 1080i to 720p turned out really good with no video\audio sync issues. Well, I haven't been so lucky after that conversion, everything I've tried since has had poor video\audio sync. Once test conversion I fixed by running the demuxed AC3 file from the .mkv through AC3Fix then remuxing with the delay I found from the original .m2t file, but it hasn't worked on others. When I look at the running log of Xvid4PSP I can see it reports a video delay but perhaps it doesn't apply it due to the AC3 frame errors that show up in AC3fix?

Since all my source files have been 1080i I just assumed I had to deinterlace them, well after running a couple through DGIndex Preview it was reporting some as Progressive, others were flipping back and forth from interlace to progressive, this of course confused me since my TV doesn't even play 1080P.

I am also not clear on the framerate, since the video type is film do I keep the 29.970 frame rate that each file comes in or do I go 23.976 on the conversion?

I appreciate any help to clarify some of the things I am seeing.

Thanks!
