How do I make Mencoder stop converting 3 - 10 files at once?

Hello all,

I am new here and, alas, I have a problem. It seems that Mencoder on my server tries to convert all files in a list at once instead of one by one causing the server to cresh. How can I make mencoder convert 1 at a time?

Well I am not the coder of the server but I can try and get it for you. Its a real pain though , so any help will be greatly appreciated if I can find it....

This is absolutely crazy. The script owner as said this:

There is no fix for it. It's a server issue and there is nothing that can be done within the script to fix it. You just need to limit the number of files that you import at a time, especially if they are large in file size.

So where on earth do I start? I have no idea where to look to limit the number converted.
