Hey everyone, thought i'd share my misery with you guys since i been around here a few years now...
on tuesday, dec. 2nd i went to work at 6am as usual, but unfortunately i came home to a break-in. they pryed the garage side-door open, and from there went through the attic, and down through my bedroom ceiling.
they got all my power tools, air tools, and half my hand tools from the garage, a load of car amplifiers, subwoofers, and radios, all my computers and equipment, my flat screen along with the entire entertainment center it was mounted to, my xbox 360, my ps2, ps3, gamecube, and all the games/peripherals. they took 2 guitars, one a mint condition, limited edition gibson gothic 'flying v' guitar, a smith & wesson 9mm pistol, and a few other items.
basically, all the electronics and tools... ******* bastards. anyhow, i attached pics of my ceiling and the computer i am currently using, which was thrown together from my scrap-pile! let's hope my insurance comes through for me...

    merry christmas everyone!

Wow, I can't believe they went through that much trouble to crawl through an attic and knock a hole through the ceiling. OK, I can believe it, but that seems like it would take a long time and thieves usually want to be in and out as fast as possible. Did the police offer any hope of catching them? Not that you'd get your stuff back even if they did... I hope the insurance comes through for you, too. Good luck.

well the door they pried open only had a locking knob, and no deadbolt, so really they went in the easy way...

I'm not sure where you live, but most robberies are committed by people living within a 3 block radius (especially if they can see stuff from your window, every day).
Last year, we caught my friend's "Grinch", who lived two houses down from him. Luckily, those guys were idiots and left debris from the haul in their driveway, so we called the cops and got the stuff back (it was all etched & SN'ed), plus sent them away for a bit. That's why I can't ******* stand most renters (mainly when most of the neighborhood is home owners).

well you can't see in my house, but i can see why maybe the garage was targeted, as i had a lot of power tools out there and i was often out there working. unfortunately, the neighborhood is slowly turning to rental property, and i too have suspected neighbors did it. the police offer no help other than taking a report. they actually called me a week later to see if i figured out who might have done it!

makes sense...someone in the hood who could simply see your routine

I stayed at a friends apt where you weren't supposed to have guests...he left for work the next morning and I accidently flushed the the toilet knowing as soon as I did, it was a bad move...the phone rang within a minute by a nosey neighbor...who then reported it to the front office...who then informed my friend...who then informed me...

just like in ocean's eleven...there's always someone watching

I also believe that it was someone in your neighborhood. They had to have known what was in there to go throught that much trouble. Most crooks are extremely lazy people who wouldn't bothergoing throught the ceiling twice like that.

I assume that you are going to put in some sort of improved garage door? Something like a security storm door comes to mind.

That and watch the movie Death Wish 3 a few times. You'll enjoy seeing how Charles Bronson deals with people who break in or try to steal your ar, etc.

I'd be searching Craigslist and eBay to see if anyone in your area is selling your stuff.
