    Greetings everyone.

I am wondering if it is possible for me to record a TV show or movie on my Toshiba DVD recorder, leave the disc unfinalized, put it into my DVD-RW drive, edit the DVD to add chapters and a menu, and then finalize the disc either in the PC or the recorder.

From what I've read, this probably isn't possible, but I figured if it was, you guys here would know for sure.

    The disc is a DVD+R.

Thanks in advance for your help!

You must finalize it on the dvd recorder. But you can still add chapters and menus on your computer, just import it the DVD in for example Tmpgenc DVD Author and make your menus and stuff and burn on a DVD. It should not reconvert the video.

    NeroVision.

NeroVision can read most unfinalized discs. It can edit too, but look into VR mode for what you'd want. It can also re-author, with menus, chapters, etc and burn the final production for you (no need to go back to your Toshiba with the content).

I do this all the time. I capture with my Pioneer, and transfer to PC unfinalized and import with NeroVision. However, I prefer edits, re-encodes, etc. to other apps. before returning to NeroVision for the final production (author and burn).

I've adopted this method through trial and error since I just couldn't stand editing and authoring on my DVR. Traditionally, this migrating of content isn't standard practice if you don't know what you're doing.
I hate VHS. I always did.
