  1. Ok, I've a lot of DivX movies on 2 CDs, and when they are higher than 60minutes, quality, with birate arround 1400-1500 isn't really good, so I would like to put them on 3 cds, at about 2000 bitrage minimum. But I've to convert them in SVCD, join them, et cut them in 3 parts. :-(

I tried it with TMPGenc, but hat some sound bugs.

Someboby can help me ? :-)
    thx

  2. Tombed, here's a brief summary of my DivX to SVCD method:

    - If the DivX comes in two parts here's the trick: Copy both parts at the same directory. Name first as (name).00.avi and second as (name).01.avi . Then open Virtual Dub and load first avi making sure you have checked "Automatically detect and load additional segments". Virtual Dub should load both parts one after the other. If this fails load first part as usual and then add the second part using "Append video segment" from the file menu. This works 9 out of 10 times. If it doesn't, you have to encode two parts seperately. If it does make sure you delete the possible overlaping part of the video.

    - Extract audio from AVI using Virtual Dub (save as WAV).

    - Clear / amplify WAV with Cool Edit Pro (optional).

    - Frameserve video only (set audio to none) from Virtual Dub, maybe applying a filter or two. Smoother filters can improve DivXs some times. Also you can add subtitles if you need them.

    - Open TMPEG, video source frameserved from Virtual Dub, audio source extracted WAV.

    - Adjust TMPEG options and bitrate. Usually I go for 1800 video / 192 audio if the original DivX is decent. If it is heavily compressed it's a waste of space to use such bitrates actually.

    - Use Womble MPEG2VCR to cut final huge MPEG file in two or more parts.

    - Use Nero to just burn SVCD or VCD Easy to burn with chapters etc.

This method works fine for me. Since most DivXs are widescreen, you can have anamorphic SVCD if you set TMPEG options right. Image/sound quality is of course depending on your source.

Have a look at "Convert" guides at both this site and www.doom9.net for more info.

    Cheers
