Hi,
(by the way, I'm a newbie)
The father of a friend is interested in broadcasting some sort of "TV" show.
The show will be done only for Internet broadcasting, so I guess the quality of the source video does
not need to "excellent", but not too poor, 'cause he may want to reproduce it in a TV (standard CRT
TV, not HD) or in a PC, with acceptable quality.
SHOW REQUIREMENTS
- Be able to broadcast live, with one camera (for now)
- Be able to "go to commercials" and "return from commercials" (i.e., show a "commercial" or a
recorded interview, etc, switching from live broadcasting to the specific recorded clip, and then back
lo live broadcasting)
- Record the tv shows for later broadcasting, or for showing in a desktop PC, burn a DVD or
whatever...
POSSIBLE CONFIGURATION
I was thinking about the following:
Connectivity
- Probably broadcasting through justin.tv (but any other recommendation is accepted,
whether it is justin.tv-like, or a server with open source or purchased software)
- Internet connection with upload speed of XX?
- Any other considerations?
Hardware
- One (for now) digital camera
- One desktop PC
- One video card for the PC (you tell me the specs, please)
- One sort of mixer console to insert the commercials or recorded interviews
Software
- Client: justin.tv broadcasters (or can be sth else)
- Server: justin.tv or similar "ready made" solutions (but any other
recommendation is accepted, whether it is justin.tv-like, or a server
with open source or purchased software))
- I have no idea, but I guess that for instance the last item in the HW list
can be replaced by some software that allows to mix/fade the camera video signal
with any recorded clip...
CONSIDERATIONS
- The budget is not too big (it is a personal project), so if you can give a couple of affordable options, the better. This is valid for software and hardware.
So... Can you please recommend an appropriate HW/SW/Connectivity configuration?
I'd appreciate if you can give me the main specs/features required for the difference components for the configuration, plus a couple of brands/models for the HW requirements.
Sorry for leaving so many open questions/definitions, but as I told you, I am a newbie on this...
Thanks in advance!!
Adrián

Hi Thanks for the answer.
But I did not want to limit to Justin.tv, besides, I need some HW config tips (required hw features, possible brands and models, required upload speed, sw or hw to mix live signal with recorded clips, etc) for the specific sort of broadcasting we are planning to have...
I mean, I've already tested the webcam broadcasting, but I have none of the possible HW or SW resoures to get a decent tv show up and running.
That's why if someone wit experience could help me (since I have none) it would would be really appreciated.
ANYBODY?
Thanks
