Hello,
I have a avi xvid this file has 12 bit sample rate.
When i use virtualdub to put permanent subtitles in the video.
It looks great en there is no out of sync.
But the video has no longer 12 bit sample rate but 24 bit.
Is this oke? Could you tell me how i get 12 bit?
I hope you can help me.
merry christmas

Don't worry about it. That sample size report from Windows is telling you something about the colorspace of the video that was compressed. "12 bit" means the video that was sent to the compressor was YV12. "24 bit" means the video that was sent to the compressor was RGB.
If you open a video that outputs YV12 (MPEG, Divx, Xvid, etc.) and compress it with VirtualDub in Fast Recompress mode (the YV12 frames are sent directly to the compression codec) you will get a video with file properties that say "12 bit" because YV12 has 12 bits per pixel on average. But if you want to do any filtering in VirtualDub you have to use Full Processing mode. In Full Processing mode VirtualDub converts the YV12 frames to RGB (24 bit) to do the processing. When this is sent to the compressor it marks the file as "24 bit".
If you want the video to report "12 bit" even though you've used Full Processing mode you can force VirtualDub to convert to YV12 before sending the video to the compression codec. Video -> Color Depth... set the Output Format to "4:2:0 Planar YCbCr (YV12)". After processing in RGB VirtualDub will convert to YV12 before sending frames to the codec. Otherwise the codec will do the RGB to YV12 conversion (assuming a codec that uses YV12 internally) before it starts compressing.
