I've been repeatedly trying to convert one of my videos from RMVB to AVI - however, it always fails to fully convert and though ffmpegX says that the encoding process is done, the actual AVI file is only a partial clip of the original video. Is there a way to solve this problem? Thanks so much for your time.

Here's the description if that would help:

Is there a glitch in the movie at 0:23:03 (1383 secs) that might be interpreted by the software as an End Of Fiile? Video errors are known to cause conversions to halt.

I'm... not sure? :S Is there a way to fix the glitch?

A glitch/file error in a movie clip may show during playback as extreme blocking, wrong colors, video noise, possibly accompanied by sound errors like hissing, silence, ticking. The error itself may last for only only a fraction of a second, so pay close attention around the time 0:23:00 - 00:23:05, during playback. If you see or hear nothing unexpected, then the cause of conversion error is less obvious.

There is no easy way to repair such errors, that I know of. It would likely be easier to track down and download an AVI version of the same content.
You could capture the playback in RealPlayer to a new file with a tool like iShowU, which can capture almost anything that happens on your screen, but the file better be unique and very important before dedicating to so much extra work.
