  1. I'll keep the 2 1TB triple interface drives I just bought...each has TWO drives inside... BUT...
the guy whole told me about them didn't really say the right things (I believe).
He said I can set one to simultaneously backup whatever I'm doing to the second drive inside the
unit. TRUE but that's not the recommended mode for FAST video editing...

    so basically what I'm asking
is what is the best way to use these two units for video editing. There are so many modes... ranging from
speed (the one that the manual says is best for video editing but provides NO safety backup) to really safe (a mirror image...2nd simultaneous backup of whatever I'm doing). Sorry for the rambling.

Oh... this is what I intended to do... one unit for video footage (raw) ... firewired to computer... the other unit firewired out of computer to store the finished, edited video. I was hoping I would be extremely safe AS I edited with no backing up afterwards.

Any suggestions on best use of these two massive drives.

    Thanks so much in advance.

  2. if you want to use them as source and destination drives for encoding, i'd try using one as firewire and the other as usb2. if they are both on the same interface it will cut the bus transfer by more than half and will probably slow them down.

i'd use them in JBOD mode. just a bunch of disks, that way you will get to use the 1TB in each rather than 500MB in an array mode.

hopefully the computer details you list have been upgraded.....
