The large number of Playstation units in homes is arguably what brought us Blu-ray and sunk HD DVD. Thanks Mr. Sony! Funny how things evolve.

Yeah, my PS3 sits and gathers dust. Seems all the good games I want to play are on 360. Even if you can turn it into a somewhat PC not worth 400 bucks and I got stuck with a 40GB a year ago.

Have met Nicebud ( https://forum.videohelp.com/topic361110.html and other assorted ravings ) ? You and he should go get a room somewhere and excite each other into a frenzy.

    Otherwise, yawn.

    I agree.
Sony could make a self powered orgasm machine that also cleans up
after you are done and there will still be geeks around to complain about
    having to unzip.

I think studio support played a bigger part.

And a lot of users were buying the PS3 simply to use it as a Blu-Ray player, but now that the standalone players are more plentiful and cheaper, there is no reason to buy a game console. I have personally waited because until recently, the PS3 was the best Blu-Ray player and I didn't want to buy a game console to watch movies (and have a non-standard size piece of hardware in my rack). Now that people actually have a choice of Blu-Ray players, the PS3 has to rely on it's gaming capabilities.

With that said, from what I've read, the PS3 makes a good media center as it will play numerous video formats, including HD files.
